Traditional
Timber Frames is a business led by Chris Nance that specialises
in traditional mortice and tenon timber framing. These frames are
suitable for a wide range of structures ranging from small garden
buildings through to majestic homes. |
As
a carpenter from the Southern Highlands of NSW, Chris was the recipient
of a scholarship in 2006 that allowed him to travel to the UK, and
learn from a craft that has been practiced for centuries. This opportunity
gave Chris the chance to learn the skills, designs, procedures and
traditions of a beautiful craft and caused him to develop a real
admiration for the trade. |
Traditional
Timber Frames uses the British ‘Scribe’ method of timber
framing, which Chris learned under the teaching
of Alan Ritchie, www.hewnwood.com,
in Wales |
''For
the last 18 months I have trained and worked alongside Chris and
have found him to be an absolutely first rate carpenter. He has
picked up the traditional timber frame building skills faster
than any other apprentice I have trained. This is undoubtedly
because he shows true dedication to his work.
I have always found him to be honest productive and completely
reliable and would recommend his services most highly.''

| Traditional
Timber Frames is dedicated to providing timber framed structures that
will be a legacy for future generations to admire. We use the traditions
and skills of British Oak Framing (an ancient craft) and have adapted
it to perfectly suit Australian conditions, Australian timbers, and
the modern Australian building industry. |
